Villa Duchesne

Overview
Housed in a historic building dating back to 1929, Villa Duchesne’s common spaces have a classical, academic look characterized by detailed millwork and soaring ceilings. For the most recent updates to the school’s atrium and auditorium, general contractors A.J. Brown partnered with Gravois Planing Mill to deliver historic woodwork befitting this time-honored institution.
Throughout the atrium and auditorium spaces, Gravois Planing Mill furnished wood paneling including baseboards and chair rail trims, as well as wood door frames. In the atrium, the team was also responsible for crafting curved window trim and curved window casing to highlight a series of iconic Gothic Arch windows, and the double doors that mirror their silhouette on the opposing wall. The centerpiece of the space, the fireplace, is clad in wood paneling that extends the full height of the room. In the auditorium, the wood paneling that encircles the room is continued onto the front of the raised stage platform for a more cohesive look.
